Our services

Scanning

We can scan from any transparency up to 6"x4" (slide or negative). We offer very competitive pricing for all sizes, from 6x4 to A3 at 300dpi. Whether you need to scan your originals for viewing on your PC or for digital and litho printing, Pix Studio can help. Scans are supplied on CD at no extra charge. Unfortunately, we cannot scan from prints.

All our items are sent out in secure padded envelopes by Royal Mail special delivery. Please feel free to contact us if you have any particular requirements regarding delivery of your images.

For your peace of mind we will keep a backup of your images for two months. You can order a replacement CD at any time within those two months for a charge of £5 including postage and packing.

Service levels

Gold
35mm originals are scanned at 2000dpi, larger sizes are scanned at 1000dpi. This captures far more detail and is suitable for making a full page print on an inkjet printer, especially if you need to crop or manipulate the image.

Pro
Our top level of service for the professional photographer. Images are scanned at 4000dpi for 35mm and 2400dpi for larger sizes. This equates to a scan at over A3 size from a 35mm original, and A2 size from a medium format original.

Postage and packing is calculated when you place your order. As standard we use Royal Mail recorded delivery, but if you are sending originals that have high commercial or sentimental value then we recommend that you choose the Royal Mail special delivery option on the order form.

Options

Basic dust & scratch removal:

While we take care to remove dust from originals, there can sometimes be some residue which, although invisible to the naked eye, is picked up by our scanners. Minor scratches can be removed easily, but larger imperfections take longer to repair (see retouching). This is charged at 50p per scan.

Crop border:

Often a thin black border can appear on scans (i.e. the slide mount or the edge of the negative) - we can remove this for you for 50p per scan.

Retouching:

We can manually improve your images. The services we offer are:

Colour correction
Red eye removal
Major scratch removal
Removal of foreign objects
Removal of tattoos and scars

A flat fee of £25 applies to each image
